Now Hiring · Part-Time · Salem, Virginia

We have 204 acres,
40+ horses, and a story
nobody has told yet.

We're looking for one AI-fluent content creator to shoot it, cut it, post it, and grow it. Instagram, Facebook, YouTube. Drones, DSLRs, four-wheelers, and the saddle.

The Short Version

This is not a "post pretty horse pictures" job.

We have 204 acres, a growing herd, a five-star guest house, a full events calendar, four-wheelers, drones, and a genuinely great story that almost nobody knows yet.

We need one person who can turn all of that into content that actually fills memberships, clinics, and guest-house bookings.

This is a growth job with a camera.

About Harborwood Farm

From 7 horses to 204 acres
in about three years.

A few years ago we moved to the farm with 7 horses. Today Harborwood Farm is 204 acres in Salem, Virginia — and we're bringing in 37 more horses to build toward a 40+ horse riding club and membership operation.

Equestrian operations

Lessons, trail riding, western horsemanship, and clinics — run by a family that's out there every day.

A membership riding club

The core growth engine. Building toward 40+ horses and a full member program — this is what the content strategy is built around.

Guest house kitchen with a farmhouse sink and a picture window looking out on the Blue Ridge mountains

The Guest House

An active, five-star-reviewed stay on the property — with the Blue Ridge framed right in the kitchen window.

The main house

A restored log home with a stone chimney and double porches. The landmark at the center of the property.

Antique farm wagon on a fence line with the Blue Ridge mountains behind it

A working farm

Land clearing, forestry mulching, fence lines, barn buildout, heavy equipment. Family and staff doing the work, in real time.

Horses arriving by the trailerload. Acreage being cleared. A farm being built in real time.
The growth story is the content — and almost no equestrian brand has this kind of raw material.

Why This Role Exists

We're competing for attention against people with bigger budgets and worse stories.

Our advantage is authenticity, access, and speed. We need someone who can compound that into audience, and turn audience into revenue.

The four commercial outcomes you own

  1. 01

    Grow memberships

Harborwood equestrian memberships are the primary scoreboard.

  2. 02

    Fill clinics & events

Seats sold, riders signed up, waitlists built.

  3. 03

    Drive guest-house stays

Nights booked and repeat guests at the Guest House.

  4. 04

    Earn sponsorships

Tack, feed, trailers, equipment, apparel, and local brands.

Followers matter — but only as a leading indicator of those four things.

What You'll Actually Do

You own the full loop: ideate, shoot, edit, post, measure, adjust.

This is a full-stack creator role, not a specialist role. You won't be handed a shot list — you'll build one.

Channel-specific strategy

  • Build a distinct strategy for Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube — not one video cross-posted three ways.
  • Map content buckets before shooting: the growth story, horsemanship teaching, farm life and behind-the-scenes, guest house and hospitality, member and clinic spotlights.
  • Work platform-first — find what's working on each channel, then match it to what we have and what we can capture.

Shoot on site

  • Be here for events, clinics, construction and land-clearing days, horse deliveries, trail rides, and trips.
  • Shoot from horseback where it makes sense, plus action from four-wheelers and drone work.
  • We provide the gear: drones, DSLRs, event cams, and mounts. Bring your own if you prefer it.

Edit & publish

  • Fast turnaround on short-form; longer bingeable series for YouTube.
  • Build a shared, organized footage library the whole operation can pull from — not one-off edits with lost raw files.
  • Hold a consistent posting cadence. Consistency beats occasional brilliance.

Measure & grow

  • Track view-to-follow, saves, shares, watch-through — and most importantly inquiries, bookings, and signups.
  • Report simply and honestly each month: what worked, what didn't, what's next.
  • Double down on what performs: roughly 70% proven formats, 20% variations, 10% experiments.

Hard Requirement

Use AI aggressively.

This is a requirement, not a bonus. We're a small team with limited hours, and AI is how one person produces at the level of a small agency. You should already be using AI for:

  • Ideation, hooks & scripting
  • Content calendars & channel planning
  • Editing acceleration & cutdowns
  • Captions, repurposing, thumbnails
  • Scheduling & deployment
  • Analytics & next-cycle planning

If you can't show us your AI workflow, this isn't the right fit.

Who We're Looking For

High-performer instincts over a polished résumé.

Required

  • Genuinely excited about content and about growing something from the ground up
  • Can shoot and edit — phone-first is fine if the work is good, but be comfortable with DSLR and drone footage
  • Demonstrated fluency with AI tools across strategy, production, and measurement
  • Reliable, self-directed, organized — you'll often be working solo on a working farm
  • Comfortable outdoors, in the dirt and the weather, around large animals and equipment
  • Reliable transportation to Salem, VA

Strongly preferred

  • Horseback riding experience and comfort shooting from the saddle
  • Drone experience is a plus, not a requirement
  • Students and recent grads are welcome and encouraged
  • A portfolio or personal account where you've grown something, even something small

We care more about a real account you actually grew than a polished reel you made for a class.

What we're not requiring

Years of agency experience. We would rather find someone with high-performer instincts and a real growth trajectory and build them into a great creative lead than hire a résumé.

If you're early in your career and hungry, you are exactly who this posting is for.

Schedule

Flexible — in both directions.

We need you here when the interesting things happen: events, clinics, construction, horse deliveries, trips. And we'll work around your class schedule to make that possible.

Expect a mix of scheduled shoot blocks and the occasional short-notice "get out here, this is happening" day.

How to Apply

Send us an Instagram-style video.

No cover letter. No résumé required. Shoot and edit about 60–90 seconds the way you'd actually post it, and tell us:

  1. Who you are, and what you've shot or grown
  2. Why you'd be an awesome fit for this role
  3. One idea you'd shoot at Harborwood Farm in your first two weeks

Judge yourself on the first three seconds. If your hook doesn't land, neither will ours.

Our Hiring Process

Five steps. One of them pays.

  1. 1

    Application review

The video is required — it's the fastest way for us to see how you think and how you cut.

  2. 2

    15-minute intro call

A high-level look at your experience and how you approach content.

  3. 3

    On-site visit

Walk the farm, meet the horses, and find out whether you actually like it here.

  4. 4

    Paid test project

A real short assignment on the farm, paid at your hourly rate. We don't ask anyone to work for free.

  5. 5

    Final conversation & offer

If we both like how it went, we make it official.

Why Take This Job

More creative control, more access, and more real growth reps than any internship.

You'll build a brand's entire channel strategy from near-zero — on 204 acres, with 40+ horses, drones, and a story in motion. And you'll be able to point at the followers, the bookings, and the revenue you created.

If it works, this becomes a full-time role with a bigger budget and a team.
